Clouds, Coffee, and a Dinosaur

I woke up to a cloudy, windy morning—the kind that makes you want to stay in bed a little longer.
With my usual cup of black coffee in hand, I settled into my favourite couch beside the living-room window, overlooking the trees. As I watched the branches sway, it honestly felt like a deep breath.
I took another sip and watched the clouds. For once, I wasn’t wondering what time it was.
My son joined me with his usual curiosity, this morning wondering about the colour of the clouds. My wife came in with her morning glass of water and settled into the couch beside mine.
The school had just sent homework: make some art about your big dreams.
“What’s your big dream?” I asked him.
“A dinosaur,” he said.
I looked at my wife, and she was already smiling. It didn’t seem necessary to either of us to explain what the school meant by a big dream.
Later, while I was on my lunch break, I remembered his answer and smiled again.
I wondered where he imagined we would keep it.
